Game Jam

A game jam is a gathering for the purpose of planning, designing, and creating one or more games within a short span of time, usually ranging between 24 and 72 hours. Game developers are generally made up of programmers, game designers, artists, and others in game development-related fields.

 

Global Game Jam 2018

The Global Game Jam 2018 @ KSU will be held from Friday, January 26th through Sunday, January 28th.

This is a great opportunity to come and make a game over a weekend. Anyone can join in regardless of skill or experience. Come and have fun, learn, and meet some new people.

  • Friday, January 26th:

    1:30pm - 4:00pm: Check-in outside J202 in the Atrium building - Marietta

    4:30pm - Opening ceremony, location Q202 - Engineering building

    6:00pm - GGJ start, www.globalgamejam.org, location J building

    6:00pm - Dinner

    9:00pm - Snacks available

     

    Saturday, January 27th:

    8:00am - Breakfast

    12:30pm - Lunch

    3:00pm - Snacks available

    6:00pm - Dinner

    Sunday, January 28th:

    Note: Computer labs will be open in the J building/Atrium during the

    event.

     

  • All KSU students please park in your regular parking lot/parking deck. All

    visitors please park in parking deck 60 (West parking deck) on the Marietta

    campus. Visitors will need to receive a parking code at check-in.

  • When you arrive, please sign in at the check-in desk outside of J202 in the

    Atrium building to receive your t-shirt and name badge. Please DO NOT

    lose your name badge!

  • Participants can leave campus if needed. Name badge will be required for

    re-entry into the building.

  • No. Making a game involves many disciplines. We encourage everyone to join a group that consists of people with a broad range of skill sets.
  • No. We actively encourage everyone to form a group on Friday afternoon.
  • This money goes towards paying for the t-shirt, pizza, food, snacks, security, that will be provided throughout the game jam.
  • Many students choose to stay the entire game jam. Other students choose to have a rest somewhere else. It is entirely up to you what your participation will be.
  • We will have Public Security patrolling the building for the entire 48 hours. We will have faculty on site for the entire 48 hours.
  • We have found that there is a correlation between participation in the game jam and higher grades. While we can’t make any promises, we think you will have some fun, meet some new people and get to make a game. And yes, we will provide a t-shirt, pizza, food, snacks, sodas, etc.
