The College offers foundation certificates in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Technology to help students with non-computing-related undergraduate degrees to transition into a Computing Master’s programs, or to obtain an entry-level positions in the industry.   • Kennesaw State University is now offering the NEW Master of Science in Computer Science degree to meet Georgia's increasing workforce demand in computer science. The MSCS program offers students a true graduate-school experience in the exciting discipline of Computer Science, with high expectations and intensive learning. The Masters program is designed to serve two kinds of qualified students who want to further their study in computer science: those who have BS degree in computer science, and those with undergraduate degrees in areas other than CS with required computer science and mathematics course work.

    MSCS Program Requirements
  • Kennesaw State University's Ph.D. in Analytics and Data Science is an advanced degree which has been developed to meet the market demand for Data Scientists.

    This degree will train individuals to translate large, structured and unstructured, complex datasets into information to improve decision making. This curriculum includes heavy emphasis on programming, data mining, statistical modeling, and the mathematical foundations to support these concepts. Importantly, the program also emphasizes communication skills - both oral and written - as well as application and tying results to business and research problems.

  • The Graduate Certificate in CS Foundations develops a breadth of knowledge across the computer science discipline, necessary to sustain graduate study in computer science. The MS CS Admissions Committee may optionally conditionally admit applicants lacking foundational knowledge in computer science, with the requirement to complete this certificate program.

  • This online graduate certificate program is appropriate for students from a variety of academic backgrounds with sufficient math, stats, and computer programming background and experience. This certificate is a stand-alone certificate, whose courses may be allowed as electives in some graduate programs.

  • The Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program is designed for those students interested in pursuing a career as a senior information technology (IT) professional who can apply accepted standards and best practices to effectively plan, design, implement and manage the various aspects of an IT organization. All the courses in the MSIT program are offered both face-to-face and online.

    MSIT Program Requirements
  • The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Foundations is aimed at individuals who hold an accredited bachelor’s degree in an area unrelated to computing but who would like to transition into a Master’s program in Information Technology, or obtain an entry-level positions in the industry.  Students who obtain the certificate have skills and knowledge in the areas of programming, web development, database systems, system administration and information assurance and security. All the courses in the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Foundations are offered both face-to-face and online. No Credit by Examination or course substitution.

  • Information security is one of the fastest-growing areas in information technology and information management. It is the foundation of enterprise decision-making and reliable business processes. This program prepares students for a variety of positions such as information security officer, security manager, operational manager, systems and network manager, legal professional, risk manager, and information professional. Information security is especially important in banking and finance, public health, health care, and other highly-regulated industries. Those who complete the program successfully will be prepared in security awareness, incident response to system compromise, defense strategies, configuration management, and legal issues.

    The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Security Program is designed for IT professionals who have a bachelor’s degree or have taken the Information Technology Fundamentals Graduate Certificate (or the equivalent through other course work) to advance their knowledge in the field of information security.

    Students graduating with this program will have a strong background in fundamental principles and applications of computer security, as well as hands-on experience with security tools commonly used in industry.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Health Information Technology (HIT) Program is designed for IT professionals who have a bachelor's degree and have taken the Graduate Transition Certificate in Information Technology (or the equivalent through other course work) to advance their knowledge in the field of Health IT. All the courses in the Health Information Technology Certificate are offered both face-to-face and online.

    Students graduating with this program will have a strong background in fundamental principles and applications of the use of information and communication technology in health care in different healthcare settings, as well as hands-on experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems widely adopted by healthcare providers.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Data Management and Analytics Program is designed for IT professionals who have a bachelor’s degree in computing field to advance their knowledge in the field of Data Management and Analytics, especially the technologies and systems supporting large scale business data processing. 


    Students graduating with this program will develop a solid foundation in theories and applications of enterprise data management and analytics, as well as gain hands-on experience with the technologies and systems commonly used in industry.

  • The Graduate Certificate in SWE Foundations assumes that students do not have a significant background in computing. It both deepens and broadens their knowledge of computing, and prepares them for positions of more responsibility in the computing industry, as well as for further postgraduate studies. Students interested in the Graduate Certificate will typically not have a first degree in computing.
