Anna is an educator with experience in teaching, advising and adult learning in both offline and online environments. As an undergraduate she explored the fields of history, anthropology, international studies, and environmental studies at the American University in Bulgaria and Columbia University. Her interest in helping people learn took her to an international graduate studies program in Adult Learning and Global Change at Linkoping University in Sweden. Most recently she completed with distinction a NACADA program in Theory and Practice of Academic Advising.
Prior to joining KSU, Anna helped run the Supplemental Instruction Program at Georgia State University. She has been professionally involved with projects of Oregon State University, Sofia University of Forestry, Columbia University, the American University in Bulgaria, and various non-profit education initiatives, including volunteer work for the Fulbright Program.
Her personal experiences and challenges she’s met as a student have shown her the value of good advising. She sees advising as a collaborative, holistic, student-centered endeavor where the advisor’s role is to support students on their personal path to success by helping each and every student become a resilient and efficient independent learner. She’ll urge you to be deliberate experimenters in your own learning and provoke you to step out of your comfort zone.
